I-RIIDE partners with SBB to advance seamless smart mobility in Switzerland
At I-RIIDE, we’re pleased to announce a collaboration with Swiss Federal Railways (SBB), a key milestone in our mission to make shared and public mobility work better together across Switzerland.
As the backbone of the Swiss public transport system, SBB connects millions of passengers every day with a reliable rail network. By linking this infrastructure with I-RIIDE’s flexible mobility platform, we are helping to close the gap between long-distance rail travel and everyday local journeys in one integrated digital environment.
Connecting rail with shared mobility
The collaboration focuses on bringing rail and shared mobility into a single, easy-to-use ecosystem. Through API-based integration, SBB timetable and travel data are incorporated into I-RIIDE so that users can discover and plan combined journeys that include trains, buses, trams and local mobility services such as carsharing, micromobility, EV charging and parking.
This intermodal approach supports more sustainable travel choices by making it simpler to leave the private car at home, reduce CO₂ emissions and use existing transport infrastructure more efficiently.
“This partnership is an important step forward. Our mission at I-RIIDE is to make mobility simple, sustainable and connected. Working with SBB allows travellers to plan journeys that naturally combine rail with shared, on-demand services all within one app and one consistent experience.”
Dereck Gibeyo, Founder & CEO
A shared commitment to sustainable cities
I-RIIDE and SBB share the ambition of supporting cleaner, smarter cities through better mobility. By aligning high-capacity rail with flexible, on-demand services, we aim to reduce friction in everyday travel, expand access to sustainable options and encourage a gradual shift away from private car dependence.
In parallel, the collaboration opens up perspectives for further innovation in areas such as digital ticketing, dynamic journey planning and integrated customer services that make sustainable transport more attractive and convenient.
What’s next
The integration will be rolled out in phases, with planned features including live availability of shared mobility options, smoother intermodal booking and more personalised journey suggestions.
Together, SBB and I-RIIDE are contributing to a future in which mobility in Switzerland feels less like a series of separate steps and more like one connected, user-centric experience that supports both people and the climate.
